It’s now less than two weeks until the next club year, where Karen and I encourage everybody to read books published in the same year. I’ve lost track but we’ve done LOADS of them. This time – it’s 1936! It’s also my favourite image of all the badges so far. Don’t you just want to be in this room?
We’ll be running the week from 12-18 April, but you can start reading whenever you like… In fact, not gonna lie, I’ve already read seven 1936 titles… turns out it is a very good year for me. I’m looking forward to sharing the spoils, including two that are strong candidates for my best-of-2021 list. But, of course, I’ll keep a book or two to read during the week itself.
Looking forward to it – so many choices!!
I am reading one of my books right now… a mystery of course. Looking forward to checking out everyone’s reviews.
Excited to be participating in your clubs for the first time!
I have a whole stack and keep finding more that I want to read! I’ll post about at least one and hopefully more. I’m very intrigued to learn what’s in your 1936 stack!
I’m torn on what to read. There is Laughing Gas by my beloved Wodehouse. But also all the Lovecrafts my wife has wanted me to read for years, and the Conans. Hmmm…
I’ve already started reading The Thinking Reed by Rebecca West, so I’m good to go:)
I have a copy of The General by C S Forester lined up. Turns out I have very little on my shelves from this year so it wasn’t a difficult choice!
Very excited for this!
Well I just bought Minty Alley by CLR James in the new Bernadine Evaristo edition so there we go!
I thought I had Ballet Shoes but it has disappeared.
I know I had Gone with the Wind, but now find it’s in my daughter’s flat in London…
I DO have Murder in Mesopotamia and South Riding. Have started the Christie, so I should have at least one done in time.
Looking forward to it.
I’ve already chosen a book or two to read and am excited to participate!
I just found out about this, and in spite of the tottering stack of library on my bedside table, I hope to read Behold, Here’s Poison by Georgette Heyer during that week. What fun!
Library books, that is…
I just discovered this and what a lovely idea! I’m late but maybe next time I can join in :)
I’ve been enjoying everyone’s posts so much that I’ve decided too join in. I’ve been wanting to read an Albert Campion mystery for a while (haven’t read any so far) so will read Flowers for the Judge from 1936. Of course, my review will be very last minute. Next time will keep my eyes peeled so that I can know of this in advance.
