Bent Objects – Terry Border

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned a funny little book I once bought for my housemate, and which I flicked through the other day with renewed amusement – it’s Bent Objects by Terry Border.  Border has his own blog here, and is rather ingenious – he takes everyday objects, often food, and uses wire etc. to make them seem animate.  He doesn’t actually animate them, but does give them life – through seemingly simple construction and brilliant placement.  I love him.  What reminded me of the book was the ereader/book debate, and this image:

 Here’s another of my favourites:

It’s a great silly book, and there are a few others in the series, I believe.  It’s not the right time of year to mention stocking fillers, but… oh well, any time of year is good for a laugh, isn’t it?

Speaking of the ereader/book debate…we're getting set to launch the circulation of ereaders to the public at my library. I really don't want to be at the desk when someone brings one in after having some sort of accident with it.

Looks like a fun book, Simon!

Eek! My friend Sherry has borrowed an ereader from her library (somewhere in US, can't remember where) – it seems like an expensive experiment for libraries, to me! Good luck!

Isn't it wonderful? I love his imagination, and the way he makes things which seem simple, but probably took many hours.

I discovered him on the internet several months ago. I believe he has a blog or website where he posts his creations.

Books do seem like Lilliputians at war with the gigantic eBook mania that has swept the globe. Excellent image – wonderfully quirky book.

I haven't read Gulliver's Travels, but I think the eBook might win in this analogy? :(

I love that! I have been reading serious Dickens and Tolstoy reviews all over the internet and I needed that!

Haha! There needs to be a mix, doesn't there? I try to space out my worthy reviews with a bit of silliness…

Your "other" reviews aren't worthy (all of your book reviews are serious in my view) it is just that some people might consider some books more frivolous than others. I'd recommend Swift to you but I suspect you already have one or two book waiting to be read :-)

Did you see the lovely black cat picture on MCS?

      Best wishes
