That’s right – today Stuck-in-a-Book is five years old!

Thanks everyone who has made this such a fun and valuable part of my life over that time, whether you’ve been with me since day one or discovered me last week. And, of course, thank you for making the whole bookish blogosphere such a joy, whether as bloggers or commenters or publishers. To quote Miranda’s Mum – such fun!
Congratulations & happy blog birthday, Simon! Here's to the next five years!
thanks very much, Lyn!
Happy Birthday. I hope you eat cake along with the Easter chocolate. Looking forward to seeing which book you buy first now that Lent has finished. All the best, Pam
Since I eat cake all year round, I should have found something better, shouldn't I?
My first book was actually Loving Without Tears by Molly Keane, in the Oxfam by work.
Congratulations. (We're just one year behind you at Shelf Love.)
I always think of you as pre-dating me!
Wow. Congratulations. I hope you are having cake with lots of frosting.
I'm gonna need to make one, aren't I?
Congratulations, Simon! Here's to many more happy years of blogging!
and so say all of us!
Here is to the next five!! Well done and I find this blog very interesting and it has expanded my reading knowledge and decreased my purse!
Haha! Yes, my main aim is to make everyone a bit poorer ;)
Well done, Simon!! I love your blog and look forward to the next five years as you reach for a decade of writing so engagingly about reading.
Thank you so much, Martina :)
Congratulations Simon. Your blog has provided me with so many new titles to request from my library and buy from my local Hard To Find Bookshop! Thankyou for expanding my horizons. Looking forward to many more years of wonderful blogging.
What a lovely message, Margaret! I do so enjoy it all.
Well done, Simon! A visit here is always a pleasure.
thank you Karen – one of my main inspirations in starting out!
Congratulations, Simon – half a decade, sounds so long and it seems like only yesterday. Here's to the next half decade!
indeed! A very happy birthday to you too :)
We remember when you you were five Si! Safe travelling up to Nottingham and then on to Durham.
OV and OVW
(Ooops! for Durham read Newcastle!)
Haha! and even a bit before five (even if we all fail when identifying photos)
Happy blogging birthday
thanks!
Happy blogging birthday. Yours was the first book blog I encountered and it opened up a whole world of books for me. So thank you very much.
I really love it when people say I was the first they found – I love the idea of being a gateway into this wonderful world of blogging :)
Congratulations! – you have a blog to wich I return time and time again to find wonderful things to read.
thanks!
Happy Blogiversary! Yours one of the first blogs I discovered around four years ago, although I lurked for ages. Well done Simon. Here's to the next years.
How lovely that it helped lead to your own wonderful blog, Annabel!
"which"! Oh dear.
heehee :)
Happy 5 years Simon and looking forward to many more!
thanks Sakura! It's been really lovely meeting you through blogging.
Congratulations! That's excellent. I love reading your blog (if my commenting is sometimes erratic) and look forward to the decade celebration. ;)
I always love hearing from you, when you have a chance to pop by :)
Happy Birthday! Five years is a huge milestone in blogging terms. It's been a real pleasure to get to know you better this year, too.
Yes, and you, Victoria – you had me at 'Sweet Valley High'!
Happy fifth blogiversary! I thought I would have a quick search on Librarything for appropriate books with a half-decade connection. I'm guessing that you wont be rushing out to read "Bus deregulation five years on"?(Chances are that your local charity book store will not have a copy of that for some time, but three will then turn up together.) There are quite a few books about the first five years in the life of a toddler but that does not seem quite right either. I have a feeling that you might like the cover of "Deep Country: Five Year in the Welsh Hills" but doubt that non-fiction wildlife books are really your thing? Charles Astor Bristed's "Five Years in an English University" sounds quite fitting, but I'm only going by the title. In the end, the most fitting title I came across, which does not appear to be available here off the coast of mainland Europe, was called "Five Years of Great Writing from The Believer": this appears to sum up your blog quite neatly, given your writing, your faith and your belief in literature. All the best for the next five years.
How about the Famous Five?
The titles which spring to mind are:
'Five have plenty of fun' and 'Five have a mystery to solve'
I cannot find one with the title 'Five hide away in a book shop' – but it would be perfect!
Of course. How silly of me to forget Blyton's quintet. Possibly explained by never having read them.
thanks so much, David! I think the Five Years of Great Writing from The Believer title is very intriguing… but might still take recourse to Five Children and It ;)
Excellent. Here's to another five times five.
Gosh, there's a tall order! But I suppose I would only be 51, and just entering my blogging prime.
Happy Birthday to your wonderful blog!!
thank you very much!
Congratulations, Simon, & thank you for providing so much interest & pleasure to your readers over the past five years.
what a lovely thing to say! I definitely wish to thank everyone who reads SiaB, and makes it a pleasure to write.
5 years you say? Why the blog doesn't look a day over 4! Congratulations and many happy returns.
Yes, we're very proud of our youthful skin over here ;)
Guess that makes you a veteran blogger, now! Congratulations Simon.
I'm there! I'll be demanding my pension soon ;)
Happy birthday to Stuck-in-a-book!

5 years is a massive acheivement in the blogging world. Congratulations!
I don't quite know how long I expected it to go when I started, but probably not five years – I'm so grateful that people read it and make it fun to do!
