I was intending to write my first Persephone review tonight, but have been distracted by various things today and thus not finished my first yet, not by a long chalk… so instead, I thought I’d experiment with a poll.
Here it is – let me know which Persephone Books you’ve read! You should be able to check as many as you like. I haven’t included cookery books, as they’re more for reference than read-all-the-way-through, and I haven’t included authors’ names – for reasons of space. Get ticking!
Which Persephone Books have you read?
I've read eighteen so far and of course that will go up this week… Great idea for an ad hoc post, Simon, and one whose results I will be very interested in reading; I'll link to it in a round-up post later tonight.
I see I have a long way to go in terms of reading….still something good to look forward to.
Seems I best get on the stick.
Read more than I would have thought, feeling just a little bit smug!
I've only read a few… so many wonderful books still ahead!
I've only read three, but that number should go up this week and, if nothing else, it means I have many wonderful reads still ahead of me!
I've been wondering for ages which titles were the most popular so thanks very much for that, Simon!
I've read one. The most popular one. Shame :s
I ticked the boxes but I've read very few of those books in Persephone editions.
I've not read any but thank you for the listing as it is giving me a starting point.
I've read all on your list except for the Hopkins manuscript – I actually have four more to read but all cookery type volumes. Gret post and look forward to seeing the results!
I'm not sure how to declare that I haven't read any Si (sorry – but I've glanced at a few over time) – but I have persuaded a clergy colleague (who is a devotee of the genre) to register her vote.
I'm not sure how OV became UR
Great post Simon, I was actually suprised how many of them I had read, in my head its two when in reality its about 7. I know thats not alot though, I was pleasantly surprised though lol.
You won't believe the amount of HTML jiggery-pokery it took to get the poll working! Anyone popping in around 8pm yesterday would have seen any number of bizarre things going on… (I'm sure it was very simple, but it was difficult for me, trying to get a poll across from the sidebar to the main post…!!)
Thanks so much for all your responses, I didn't expect so many – it'll be interesting to see the results!
I must confess that I read 'Flush' long ago and in a different (book) binding. I am amazed at how few I have read – why do you keep them in Oxford? If they were here I could dip!
Perhaps some of them want a summer holiday in the country :)
Thanks for setting this poll up. It will be interesting to see the results.
I've just finished my first! But I'm amazed that at least one person has read each one! I assume they are much more easy to find in the UK, since they are not in any libraries around here! I'd really like to read more
This is so cool – I am a bit of a stats freak. Such interesting results! And well done for getting a poll on to your blog! Technical wizadry I assume?
I have read 50+ so Google would not let me vote saying my URL was tooo large…
oo-er
That's odd Elaine as it let me check all of the boxes except for one!
Oh I missed this! But thanks for putting up the poll.. so very interesting!
