By the time you read this, my Book Group Quiz will have finished. Inspired by Gaskella’s literary quiz in Abingdon, we decided to make our own – five of us have contributed rounds, with me doing three of them. Over the next few days I’ll pop up my questions for your delectation. Do have a go in the comments, but make sure you don’t read the answers if you want to have a go yourself!
First off, the picture round. These all fit nicely onto an A4 sheet, but I don’t know how to transfer that to my blog – so I’ve had to put them all up individually. They are all sections from book covers – I’m only looking for the title of the book, but feel free to throw in the author too, if you’re up for a challenge.
Hello. 2 is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. 13 is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. 15 is Lady Chatterley's Lover by D H Lawrence.
Not high scoring, but I had to comment as I know the family of the artist who designed the Brave New World cover. His granddaughter is at Oxford.
3 is Fingersmith by Sara Waters,
4 is Chocolat by Joanne Harris,
5 is Notes from a Scandal by Zoe Heller,
6 is Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger,
7 is Spies (I think) I can't remember the author of that one as I haven't read it.
8 is the Blind Assasin by Margaret Atwood
11 is Lucky Jim by K.Amis (not sure aboutthis one)
12 is Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (this is a guess based on the picture)
13 1001 Books to read before you die
What fun! Really enjoyed that. I wonder what the other ones are.
#6 is Her Fearful Symmetry. #8 is The Blind Assassin. 9. is Memoirs of a Geisha. Those are the ones that I recognize (beyond what Jane has already listed).
Doing well, guys! I won't give the answers yet, but will just say to The Literary Stew that 13 *does* appear on the cover of 1001 Books – very good, hadn't thought of that – but that's not where it started!
11. is Filth by Irvine Welsh. I haven't read it and I'd be surprised if you had.

15. The Orange Penguin Lady Chatterley's Lover
Wow, I totally don't recognize any of those…but nice eye candy. :)
I suspect quite a few them had different covers in the US, as that's often the case, so this round might be biased towards the Brits!
What a fun idea. Here's what I thought before looking at everyone else's answers:
1-Something published by Persephone Books
3-Fingersmith
6-Her Fearful Symmetry
7-Something by Susan Hill (total guess)
8-Blind Assassin
9-Memoirs of a Geisha
11-looks like it would work for Animal Farm
13-A Clockwork Orange.
7 = Spies
15= D H Lawrence
1. Is To the Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf….????
I am not looking at any of the comments (promise). Can only doa few:

7 Blind Assassin – M Atwood
11 Book by Irving Walsh cannot think of the title!
12 Prime of Miss Jean Brodie – Muriel Spark
13 Clockword Orange – Burgess
14 Lady C's Lover – DH Lawrence
Is No 7 the Woman in black by Susan Hill???
6. Her Fearful Symmetry – Audrey Niffenegger
9. Memoirs of a Geisha ?

And no. 14 looks sooo familiar, but can't think what it is.
