I will be writing Great British Bake Off recaps again this year, you may or may not be pleased to know – but I’m thinking that weekends are probably going to be the earliest I’m able to write them.
So, for today, I’ll point you towards another of my Shiny New Books reviews. This time it’s Reader for Hire (1986) by Raymond Jean, translated from French by Adriana Hunter.
It’s basically about how fab reading is. Find out more…
That is a clever concept for a novella, that the main character reads books to people for pay. It sounds interesting.
It’s a nice idea, isn’t it? And a fun-sounding profession!
I was wondering…..Hurrah!
:)
I am one who is not pleased at you BAKE OFF interest.Had hoped you would ignore it.
Ha! Well, thank you for taking the time to let me know, Tina.
I guessed you would say that.I feel Bake off has been reviewed in the press quite enough.
i knew you would go ahead with it though……
Well some people are not afraid of disagreeing with you Simon.
You’ve made my day.
I AM pleased to know. Can’t wait for the weekend, best laughs I get all year. And anonymous haters can always ignore it :-)
dont worry we will
Yes! Chuffed you will be doing a GBBO round up – feared you might have had enough. Have rarely laughed as much as I did at some of your reviews last year, had to stop reading them in the office it was getting embarrassing!
Can’t wait for your GBBO recap. My friend has a son who struggles with reading, but loves to bake. One thing he read last year was your blog.
Gah! Bake-off time for us in the US does not start until September. Must try not to read your recaps, but this might mean not reading your blog AT ALL until the Bake-off is over here, as last time around I inadvertently discovered the winner well before the last episode. How I wish for simultaneous broadcast.
