Spanische Windtorte

Bake Off recap coming soon, but I thought I’d show the Spanische Windtorte that my housemate Kirsty and I made after watching last week’s show. We used Mary Berry’s recipe and, let me tell you, it took HOURS. Five of them, to be precise.

Not as elegant as the ones on the show, but we were pretty pleased with our efforts! And it was rather yummy. (Just don’t tell Mary that we bought the edible flowers pre-made.)

And whose literary character are you going to be when you finally get accepted to ‘shuffle’ through next years Bake Off competition – after all you are going to have apply to enter the competition after this wonderful effort.

Ha! Aw, thanks Helen. But making this confirmed to me that it’s too exhausting a feat to contemplate!

Very impressive but what did you do with all the egg yolks?

I’m afraid I eventually threw them away… I vaguely meant to make lemon curd, but didn’t get around to it.

I’m impressed. But please tell me there were more than two of you to eat it! (I say this having just made an enormous Bakewell tart … only eaten two slices so far!)
