Have a great Sunday, everyone, and whilst you’re doing that, why not listen to Come On by Princess & Mr. Tom, featuring Elin Ruth Sigvardsson?
Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!
Somehow the 10th anniversary of September 11th feels more poignant than other anniversaries, and today comes with extremely sad memories for a lot of you, I’m sure, whether or not you knew people directly affected.
I had thought about putting up something sombre for today’s song, but – I do believe that joy and light are the most effective ways to combat violence and darkness. And so I’ve taken the recommendation of Tom, and chosen an infectious and happy song called Hey Mama by Mat Kearney. I hope you don’t mind – and that this puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Since summer has decided to slip into September, here’s a cheery little track called ‘Dress and Tie’ by Charlene Kaye, featuring Darren Criss aka Blaine off Glee, if that means anything to you. I think they were at music school together, or something.
Happy weekend!
Sit back and enjoy Charlotte Martin’s beautiful cover of ‘Wild Horses’.
No correct guesses on the upcoming book for review, from yesterday’s clues!
Have a great weekend – mine will involve a lot of scones.
Thanks for all your views on One Day – the general consensus seems to be in favour, so I might well give it a read – especially if I want to see the film when that comes out.
My week in Somerset comes to an end tomorrow – it has been great fun, although I read rather less than I thought I would. I’m back to Oxford for a couple of days, and then off to Shropshire & Wales – where I won’t have internet access, so I’ll either schedule posts or I’ll be quite for a few days.
The song this week is ‘You Already Know’ by Bombay Bicycle Club. Which makes the second male vocalist to have a Sunday Song!

I remember when I first heard Amy Winehouse sing – it was on some Saturday morning music show, and she had yet to release her first album. She sang something from it – I don’t remember which song, and at the time I didn’t even like the song itself all that much. But her voice. I couldn’t believe it was coming out of her – that rich, soulful, jazzy voice. I think it is best shown-off in this beautiful rendition of ‘Love is a Losing Game’.
A successful, productive day with my thesis yesterday – so let’s celebrate with a cheerful, upbeat song. Step forward ‘Something in the Water’ by Brooke Fraser. It’s a fun video too. Happy Sunday!
Slightly unusual choice today, but I thought I’d share a clip someone uploaded to Youtube. Sian Reese Williams is an actress in a soap opera I watch called Emmerdale, and in fact her character Gennie (short for Genesis) is one of my favourites. But I didn’t realise she could sing too – here she is, performing The First Cut is the Deepest.
I have just been to see a film which is relevant to Youtube… will reveal all tomorrow.
First things first, I’ve only gone and added a ‘follow me on Twitter’ thing over on the left. To be honest, I haven’t quite got to grips with Twitter, but I seem to be using it a bit more than before, so it would lovely to see you there. And I end up following more or less everyone who follows me, just out of interest (that makes me think about Pooh and Piglet tracking the Heffalump, round and round in a circle…)
This Sunday’s song is ‘I Didn’t Know I Was Looking For Love’ by Everything but The Girl – UK readers about my age might remember Karen Ramirez’s remixed version from 1998, which is more popular than the 1993 original but not, in my opinion, as good…

I’ve had a couple of days in London, seeing (count ’em) fourteen different people, in six different groupings – including Sakura (Chasing Bawa) today for a blitz of Notting Hill Book & Comic Exchange. I’ll share my spoils with you another time – for now let’s have a Sunday Song, shall we? This week it’s ‘Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us’ from Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, on their quirky duet album Raising Sand.
