I’m realising that I haven’t mentioned the successor to the 1940 Club on here yet! Ooops. You might have seen it on Karen’s blog, or on my social media – in October we will be doing *drum roll* the 1962 Club!
And the minor podcast announcement truly is minor – just in case anybody is reading along, we have changed the John Dickson Carr novel we’re doing in the next episode. It’ll now be It Walks By Night (because that’s the one Rachel could find in a bookshop!), still vs Alan Melville’s Quick Curtain.
Hurrah, basically – looks such a good year. And will be very interested to hear what you think of Bencolin and the JDC – I loved it, but it’s quite melodramatic so I don’t think necessarily to everyone’s taste!!
I’ve read a lot (for me) of good 1962 books already – but there are plenty more to search out. Looking forward to it.
Excellent!
For someone who was born in 1957, I have a hard time being nostalgic about books written after that year!
You can be nostalgic for things you actually experienced now! Though I imagine you don’t remember huge amounts about 1962?
There’s a Dean Street Press book I do believe, so I will get that naughtily ordered …
I’m eyeing up Cecil from DSP for it myself!
Yup, saw it on Karen’s page but better twice than not at all. I have already a book in mind, one that has been on my TBR page for ages. So, this time, I will hopefully not miss the deadline. Thanks!
Oo excellent, it’s great when that happens with a club
