Another rush by – just wanted to pass on the info (to which Linda Gillard alerted me) that Tove Jansson’s The Winter Book is Amazon’s Kindle deal-of-the-day, for 99p: click here. Unless you’re ethically against Amazon and whatnot, but at least you can make a fully-informed decision now!
This collection of short stories is my favourite Jansson book, and she is one of my favourite writers, so you can imagine how much I love it!
[this is probably for UK readers only… not sure…]
Snaffled. Thank you very much, Simon!
fantastic!
Would have snaffled it but have read it already. Great bargain tho.
Always worth a re-read :) I might re-read it myself, since winter shows no plans of going away.
bargain such a wonderful book buy if you've not read won't be disappointed ,all the best stu
Agreed! I'm glad there is one author in translation whom I really adore.
It's on offer at Amazon.com as well for $1.57.

So disappointing. The e-book is not available at Amazon America. Amazon UK tells me the title is 'not available for my country.' How odd. I wish the two Amazons would come together.
Me too.
sorry ladies! :(
No need to snaffle. Have my lovely blue physical copy.
Also enjoyed The Summer Book with Phyllida Law and Sophie Thompson on Radio 4 Extra.
The covers of all of them are beautiful, aren't they?
I didn't listen to it, in the end – I never seem to listen to the radio. Hmm.
so what are the stories about in general?
All sorts of things – generally about quiet moments in people's lives, that have a wider effect than you'd think. You can read everything I wrote about it here: http://stuck-in-a-book.blogspot.co.uk/2007/06/brrr.html
